Discription:
On June 4th we will set sail from Halifax to the Atlantic ocean and turn the bow to the northeast, to Newfoundland. The currents and the dominant winds come from the southwest, so normally this should be a beautiful sailing trip. During the first day and night, the coast of Nova Scotia will remain visible but on the second day, we'll see nothing but water, sky, clouds and occasionally dolphins and possibly whales if we're lucky. As we get closer to Newfoundland and the Grand Banks, the chance of fog will increase gradually. Bagheera however is equipped with the latest navigational equipment, so that should not hinder us too much. The landscape will appear enchanted making you feel as if you have sailed into another time.
After about four days of sailing, we will approach St john’s with the mighty cliffs at the mouth of the natural harbour appearing out of the fog. Once we glide in between those rocks, the ocean swell immediately fades and St john’s will appear as a lively town with a busy harbour. Our time in St. John's can be spent as you wish, there are many museums, restaurants, pubs, hiking trails, etc.
